Cool patch in the centre of the radiator

Problem:

Sometimes you may get a cold patch in the centre of the radiator and not at the top (which signifies that the radiator needs bleeding).

Diagnosis:

This is usually caused by rust deposits inside the radiator that won’t allow for the proper circulation of water.

Solution:

The radiator will need flushing.  This means you should take it off the wall and clean it.

Radiators won’t warm up

Problem:

Radiators won’t warm up but boiler is working properly.

Diagnosis:

If the boiler is functioning properly then there may well be a problem with the pump.  This pumps the hot water from the boiler around the house.  This may be due to the pump outlet being blocked, or the pump may not be working at all.  Another reason may be that the pump thermostat or timer is set incorrectly

Solution:

Call EPM to arrange a visit.

Radiators in part of the house don’t get warm

Problem:

Diagnosis:

This could be caused by several things.  The timer or thermostat that controls that part of the home may not be set properly, or it could be faulty.  This could also be a faulty zone valve or even a faulty pump.
